Biography

Dr. Tuncdemir earned her Ph.D. in Curriculum Instruction with an emphasis on Early Childhood Education from Pennsylvania State University. Her research interests encompass play, creative drama, social-emotional learning, anti-bias education, culturally responsive pedagogy, ethics in early childhood, and teacher education. She has contributed significantly to the field through presentations, book chapters, and journal articles. Dr. Tuncdemir received the PPPIF NAEYC's Walter F. Drew Emerging Play Scholar Award in 2018 and served as the President of the Association for the Study of Play for the 2022-2023 term. In recognition of her work, she was awarded the Child's Right to Play Award by the International Play Association in 2025.
