Biography

Uwe Matzat is an Associate Professor in the Human-Technology Interaction (HTI) Group at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His expertise encompasses educational technology research, particularly in learning analytics, blended learning, and the use of virtual agents. Uwe is actively involved in supervising Ph.D. students, guiding them through their research projects. He has obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Groningen at the Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology (ICS) in 2001. Uwe's academic journey has seen him conducting research at various institutions, including the Universities of Düsseldorf, Toronto, and Eindhoven, and he holds a degree in Sociology with minors in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Duisburg, Germany. His research has been published in reputable journals, including Computers & Education, the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, and IEEE Transactions on Learning Technologies. Moreover, he has served as the Program Chair for the General Online Research international conference series and was a founding editor of the International Journal of Internet Science until 2016.
