As a researcher and nutritionist, my research interests primarily focus on nutrigenomics, lipid metabolism, inflammatory and oxidative processes, cardiometabolic pathologies, inflammatory bowel diseases, genetics, epigenetics, gut microbiota, the metabolic aspects of complex diseases, and the impact of nutrition on illnesses. Our laboratory particularly examines the metabolic side effects observed in survivors of pediatric cancers. Among the sequelae noted, there is a strong tendency towards obesity, insulin resistance, hypertension, and dyslipidemia, all components of the metabolic syndrome. We study the adverse effects of cancer treatments and their underlying mechanisms, including epigenetic processes and changes in gut microbiota in regulating inflammatory and oxidative processes. We also aim to evaluate nutritional and nutrigenomic therapies to develop personalized approaches to prevent the metabolic complications of treatments.
