Dr. Valerie Thomas

Biography

Valerie Thomas is a professor at the H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Tech, with a joint appointment in the School of Public Policy. She specializes in energy materials efficiency, sustainability, industrial ecology, and technology assessment. Her research interests include low carbon transportation fuels, carbon capture, building construction, and the development of electricity systems. Thomas has held prestigious positions including Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Physical Society. She has contributed to the U.S. EPA Science Advisory Board and the USDA/DOE Biomass Research Development Technical Advisory Committee. She also worked at Princeton University and Carnegie Mellon University where she focused on energy and environmental studies, showcasing her extensive experience in this field.
