Dr. Vasu Renganathan

Biography

Vasu Renganathan is a lecturer at the Penn Language Center with expertise in Tamil language and literature. His academic background includes a PhD in South Asia Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and an MA in Asian Languages and Literatures from the University of Washington. He has previously taught at the University of Michigan and the University of Washington, focusing on the Tamil language's religious and Sangam literature, as well as Tamil linguistics and South Asian history. His pedagogical interests extend into natural language processing, aimed at enhancing the teaching of Tamil. Vasu has authored various books on Tamil language learning and is involved with multiple academic associations, including the International Association of Dravidian Languages and the Tamil Linguistics Association. He serves as a treasurer for Information Technology Tamil in the United States and is an advisory board member for the Electronic Journal of Foreign Language Teaching. Vasu is committed to integrating comprehensive approaches to language education that encompass culture and grammar, aiming to foster a deeper understanding of the Tamil language.
