Biography

Vicki Galloway is an Emerita Professor in the School of Modern Languages at Georgia Institute of Technology. With a robust academic background in Foreign Language Education, she has dedicated her career to teaching Spanish and enhancing intercultural communication. Galloway served as the associate chair of research for graduate programs and directed various overseas programs in Mexico, Ecuador, and Peru, focusing on sustainable development and intercultural communication. She has authored eight textbooks and published extensively in prominent national journals on second-language acquisition and intercultural learning, also acting as an editor for volumes on intercultural pedagogy in the journal Foreign Language Annals. Recognized for her contributions to education, she has received the Nelson Brooks Award for Excellence in Teaching of Culture from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages and Georgia Tech's E. Rowe Stamps Award for Excellence in Teaching. Galloway has also contributed to project direction for language education initiatives and served as an advisor for multiple degree programs. Her research interests include pedagogy, economic development, and environmental ethics, among others. She is committed to fostering cross-cultural understanding and addressing global issues through education and communication.
