Dr. Vicky Chondrogianni

Biography

Vicky Chondrogianni is a Professor at the University of Edinburgh specializing in Bilingualism and Language Development. She has a rich academic background, having studied Linguistics and Classics at the University of Athens before earning her MPhil in English and Applied Linguistics and a PhD in Second Language Acquisition from the University of Cambridge. Before joining the University of Edinburgh, she held research and teaching positions at Bangor University, Aalborg University, and the University of Reading. Vicky is involved in various scholarly activities, including serving as Associate Editor for the journal Linguistic Approaches to Bilingualism and being a Secretary for the International Association for the Study of Child Language. Her research interests include language acquisition in bilingual contexts, the cognitive advantages of immersive education, and the relationship between language production and comprehension across different grammatical systems. Vicky supervises PhD students and enjoys exploring novel research methodologies, such as eye-tracking. She is passionate about contributing to the field of psycholinguistics and addressing language development disorders in children.
