Biography

Victor Ujor is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Science, focusing on fermentation, renewable fuels biochemicals, metabolic engineering, and synthetic biology. His research is committed to advancing sustainable biomanufacturing and addressing metabolic bottlenecks that limit the microbial production of fuels and chemicals. Ujor's work includes the design and construction of microbial cell factories that efficiently convert food waste and agricultural residues into value-added products. He is particularly interested in improving the metabolic dexterity of microbial systems to better utilize cheap feedstocks for the production of important renewable chemicals and biofuels. Ujor's overarching goal is to contribute to the sustainable production of chemicals while ensuring minimum environmental impact. Outside of academic pursuits, he is a passionate football fan, supporting Chelsea Football Club and enjoys traveling and spending time with family. He has previously been a Postdoctoral Researcher and has earned his Ph.D. in Applied Molecular Microbiology from the University of Westminster, as well as an MSc and BSc in Applied Microbiology.
