Dr. Walter Lepore

Biography

Walter Lepore is an Assistant Professor in the School of Public Administration at the University of Victoria. He holds a PhD in Public Administration from the University of Victoria, specializing in applied policy evaluation and organizational analysis. His academic journey has allowed him to engage deeply with themes of organizational performance assessment, program policy monitoring, and evaluation, as well as strategic planning and accountability within public sector contexts. Since moving to Canada in 2010, Lepore has contributed to esteemed institutions such as the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas in Mexico and Royal Roads University, where his research has focused on complex social and environmental issues affecting coastal communities. Lepore is actively involved in community-based participatory research, working toward integrating traditional and scientific knowledge systems to enhance community wellbeing and environmental governance. He leads the SSHRC-funded project 'Bridging Knowledge Cultures,' which aims to strengthen community-university research training partnerships across multiple countries. His teaching philosophy emphasizes experiential learning, enabling his students to apply their knowledge in practical contexts. Lepore has authored several significant works, highlighting his commitment to advancing the field of public administration and fostering sustainable development through multi-stakeholder engagement and research capacity building.
