Dr. Wayne Ambrose Miller

Biography

Wayne Ambrose-Miller is the Director of the School of Social Work at the University of Windsor, having joined in 2017. He has a rich background as a social worker, spanning twenty-five years in various settings, including clinical roles within family health teams in St. Catharines, Ontario. His focus has been on providing mental health services in primary care settings. Wayne completed his PhD in 2013 at the Faculty of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University, where his dissertation research examined men’s influences on fathering practices. His doctoral studies engaged with social policy and cultural factors that impact fathering. Additionally, in 2013, he was a Strategic Training Fellow in the Interdisciplinary Primary Health Care Research TUTOR-PHC program, which led to his research on collaborative practices between mental health providers and family physicians. Wayne is experienced in teaching across various formats, including online, blended, and traditional classroom environments, where he incorporates diverse technologies to enhance student learning and engagement. He has contributed to numerous publications, focusing on social work education and the role of social work in primary health care settings.
