Biography

Pianist Wayne Weng’s playing has been described as "vibrant, immensely musical," with a "delicacy amounting to reverence." He is a prizewinner of the 2013 Iowa International Piano Competition and has performed across several countries including Canada, the U.S., and several European nations. Notable venues include the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and Carnegie Hall. Weng conserves a highly sought-after teaching studio in Vancouver, designated a Steinway Select School in 2021. His pupils have been accepted to prestigious conservatories and have won numerous competitions. He has also adjudicated various international piano competitions and co-founded the Vancouver Piano Sessions, an international summer festival. Weng earned his Bachelor of Music degree and Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music, followed by multiple master’s degrees and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the City University of New York.
