Biography

Wendy Sharp is an award-winning violinist and Assistant Professor Adjunct in Violin at the Yale School of Music. Since joining YSM in 1997, she has served as the Director of Chamber Music and a member of the violin faculty while maintaining a private studio. Sharp is a founding member of the acclaimed Franciscan String Quartet, which has toured the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia, receiving several prestigious awards including the Banff International String Quartet Competition prize and the Evian International Competition awards. A San Francisco Bay area native, Wendy graduated summa cum laude in music from Yale University and earned her Master of Music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Over the past two decades, she has taught at various prestigious institutions, including the California Summer Music, Mannes College of Music, and Dartmouth College. Sharp is an active performer, having participated in esteemed events such as the Aspen Music Festival School, Tanglewood Music Center, and the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme. Her contributions to chamber music extend beyond performance, as she is also a Fellow of Berkeley College and serves on the board of Chamber Music America.
