Biography

Yannick Desranleau is a multidisciplinary artist whose collaborative works with Chloë Lum encompass video, performance, sculpture, sound, text, and photography. Their practice is rooted in theatrical choreographic methods that explore the complex relationships between bodies and inanimate objects, frequently examined through the lens of chronic illness. Together, they have exhibited widely in notable venues such as the Esker Foundation in Calgary, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Montreal, Kunsthalle Wien, and Whitechapel Project Space in London. A recognized figure in the international music scene, Desranleau is also a co-founder of the avant-rock group AIDS Wolf and has produced award-winning concert posters under the name Séripop. Their work is included in several prestigious collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. The duo received a longlist in the Sobey Prize in 2015 and were finalists for the MNBAQ Art Award in 2020. Currently, Desranleau is pursuing a collaborative PhD with Lum in Humanities at Concordia University.
