Biography

Yeqing Li is a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the School of Human Ecology. Her research focuses on parenting beliefs and behaviors and how they develop and evolve within the context of culture, particularly under the intensive parenting ideology. She has a keen interest in child development among underrepresented families and aims to promote family well-being through her findings. Yeqing's master’s thesis investigated the relationships between Chinese mothers’ intensive mothering attitudes and practices and their psychological well-being in relation to preschoolers’ social-emotional development. She has presented her research at the Society for Research in Child Development's 2023 Biennial Meeting, tackling themes of intensive mothering and the influences of parenting on child readiness and development. Previously, she accumulated rich research experience as a research assistant, guided by recognized scholars in the field, which has deepened her interests in fathering and mothering influences on child development.
