Dr. Yuri Muzychka

Biography

Yuri Muzychka is a University Research Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering degree from Memorial University in 1993, followed by a Master of Applied Science in 1995 and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo in 1999. His postdoctoral fellowship was at the University of Waterloo where he worked on microelectronics heat transfer. His research expertise encompasses thermo-fluids, with a focus on heat transfer and fluid dynamics, and he has contributed extensively to the field with over 250 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. Muzychka has published significant works, including handbooks and has received accolades such as the AIAA Associate Fellow status in 2023. His current research includes modeling complex fluid dynamics and heat transfer phenomena in various applications including electronic packaging and advanced thermal management systems. He is an active member of several professional societies including the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
