Dr. Yvonne Skipper

Biography

Yvonne Skipper is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Glasgow, focusing on applied, co-created research that drives meaningful change. She works closely with young people, educators, and partner organizations to develop practical, evidence-based interventions. Leading Project Real, she empowers youth to identify misinformation and navigate online safely through creative resources such as comics and workshops. Yvonne has collaborated with Education Scotland and Police Scotland to produce educational materials and has run White Water Writers, a writing initiative for diverse groups, including school students and marginalized youths, fostering confidence and literacy. Her academic journey began with a Ph.D. from the University of Kent, and her career has included roles as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Royal Holloway and a Lecturer at Keele University. Yvonne is dedicated to public engagement, delivering workshops and talks on topics such as digital safety and psychological empowerment. Her research encompasses social and psychological factors influencing learning and addresses real-world educational challenges. Core interests include developmental psychology, digital citizenship, and collaborative storytelling as a means of self-expression and literacy enhancement.
