Biography

Zaib Un Nisa obtained a doctoral degree from Tuscia University in Viterbo, Italy, specializing in ecohydrological process modeling. She has conducted research at the DiBT- Forestry Lab, University of Molise in Italy, and has held a research fellowship at ICARDA in Egypt. Her academic background includes a master's degree in Remote Sensing & GIS from the Institute of Geographical Information System (IGIS) at NUST, Pakistan, and a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from the International Islamic University in Pakistan. Throughout her professional career, she has provided valuable technical input to initiatives such as the ICARDA Dryland System Program in Jordan and the FAO rainwater harvesting program in the NENA region, as well as the REDD+ Readiness program in Pakistan. Zaib is actively engaged in scientific networks and her core research areas include remote sensing of vegetation, process-based modeling, and agrometeorology, with a focus on the intricate relationship between agriculture and water resources. She has made significant contributions to regional water budget analysis and evapotranspiration estimation modeling particularly in the Mediterranean region, with a strong commitment to addressing critical issues related to water resource management and the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices globally. Currently, she serves as the project manager for the ESA-funded EO4CerealStress project, which spans Europe and Canada, based at the University of Southampton.
