Biography

Zarina Giannone completed her Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology at the University of British Columbia in 2020, and holds specialized training in sport and performance psychology, focusing on skills development in high-pressure contexts such as sports, performing arts, and business. Zarina is a registered psychologist in British Columbia and is currently employed at the Vancouver Psychology Centre and the Canadian Centre for Mental Health and Sport. She has served as a sessional instructor in the Department of Psychology as well as the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology at UBC. Zarina is passionate about leadership in psychology, having served as a Director on the boards of the Canadian Psychological Association and the British Columbia Psychological Association. Her research interests center on policy progression, psychological treatment in mental health sport, and identity development interventions for adult athletes across their lifespan. Publications include studies on identity-focused group interventions and athletic transitions in psychology.
