Professor Dr. Zubaer Hossain

Biography

Zubaer Hossain is an Instructional Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2011. His educational background also includes a Master of Science in Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, earned in 2006, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the same institution in 2003. Dr. Hossain's research interests encompass a range of topics within mechanical engineering, particularly solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, and the physics of crack nucleation and path formation in brittle composites. He also explores effective toughness in heterogeneous materials and is involved in mechanics related to multimaterial additive manufacturing. Additionally, he investigates quantum mechanics, focusing on defects in semiconductors and quantum confinement phenomena, which are vital for advancements in photovoltaics. Dr. Hossain is passionate about personalized engineering education and embraces advanced learning methods and outcome-oriented pedagogical models to enhance educational effectiveness in engineering disciplines.
