Biography

Jean-Paul Restoule is an Anishinaabe scholar educator focused on enhancing Indigenous education. His expertise encompasses Indigenous worldviews, online learning, Indigenous research, teacher education, and Indigenous pedagogy. He strives to bring Indigenous perspectives to a wide audience by infusing mainstream educational practices with these viewpoints. Currently, he leads a study centered on Indigenous pedagogy and the ways of knowing in online learning environments. His research investigates what motivates educators to incorporate Indigenous perspectives into their teaching practices, and how teacher candidates and new teachers can develop the knowledge, confidence, and motivation needed to meaningfully include Indigenous knowledges and pedagogies in their classrooms.
