Biography

Ning Xiang is an Assistant Professor at the University of Alberta, specializing in Cellular Agriculture, a novel field focused on producing animal-derived products using innovative methods. He holds a PhD in Agricultural Biological Engineering from Purdue University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Tufts University. His research prioritizes advancing cultivated meat technology by utilizing cell culture and tissue engineering techniques to replicate the texture and structure of conventional meat products. Dr. Xiang's contributions include the development of stable cell lines, optimization of culture media, and design of bioreactors for efficient large-scale production. He is also actively involved in assessing the safety and food properties of cultivated meat.
