Dr. Andreas Stylianides

Biography

Andreas Stylianides is a Professor of Mathematics Education at the University of Cambridge, where he actively contributes to the Faculty of Education and serves as a Fellow at Hughes Hall College. He has previously held academic positions at notable institutions, including a Visiting Professorship at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and an honorary research fellowship at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on improving students' mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and proof construction abilities through theoretically grounded classroom interventions. He has designed numerous studies involving diverse educational levels and has been involved in various methodologies such as design experiment methodology. In addition, Stylianides has played significant roles in editorial activities for several mathematics education journals and has edited special issues on topics related to proof and classroom-based interventions. He has published extensively, including monographs and articles in leading journals, contributing valuable insights to the field of mathematics education.
