Biography

Angela Jaap is a Senior Lecturer in Teacher Education at the University of Glasgow with a focus on creative arts education. She graduated with a BEd in Music (Hons) from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and obtained her PhD from the University of Glasgow in 2011. Since 2006, Angela has taught undergraduate and postgraduate education programmes at the University of Glasgow, University of Edinburgh, and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. In 2017, she took on the position of Lecturer in Professional Learning and programme coordinator for the PGDE (Music) at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she plays a significant role in initial teacher education programmes. Angela is actively involved in research, particularly in arts education, high-ability studies, professional learning, and teacher development. She has published in peer-reviewed education journals and presented at national and international conferences. Furthermore, she served as the President of the Scottish Educational Research Association from 2021 to 2023, and is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, with extensive experience in external examining and committees. Her professional memberships include the General Teaching Council Scotland, British Educational Research Association, and International Professional Development Association. Angela is recognized for her contributions to enhancing educational practices and research in music and creative arts education.
