Biography

Angela Odoms-Young is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University, where she also serves as the Director of the Food Nutrition Education Communities Program (FNEC) for the New York State Expanded Food Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and has played a pivotal role in shaping nutrition policy at the national level. She has contributed her expertise as a member of advisory committees, including the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's Food and Nutrition Board, and co-chaired the 2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans Scientific Review Committee. Additionally, she directs the Nutrition Liberation, Food Sovereignty, Justice Lab, which aims to engage voices from lived experiences to promote food justice within communities of color. Her research has highlighted how systemic structures impact food security and nutrition equity, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
