Dr. Arnold Bakker

Biography

Arnold Bakker is a Professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam, where he chairs the research group in Work and Organizational Psychology. He has served as the secretary general of the Alliance for Organizational Psychology and is a fellow of the Association for Psychological Science. Previously, he was a professor of positive organizational behavior at Utrecht University and served as the president of the European Association for Work and Organizational Psychology. Bakker's research focuses on positive organizational phenomena such as work engagement, flow, and happiness at work, with a keen interest in understanding the processes that lead to job performance through various constructs like work-related emotions. He has developed several internet applications to measure job demands and resources, including the Job Demands–Resources monitor and Engagement App. Bakker has published extensively in leading psychology journals and serves as series editor for significant publications in the field of Work and Organizational Psychology.
