Dr. Audrey Mbeje

Biography

Audrey Mbeje is a Lecturer in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Pennsylvania, where she serves as the Director of the African Language Program. With a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from Ball State University, Dr. Mbeje's research interests include discourse analysis, second and foreign language pedagogy, foreign language curriculum design, assessment, online text-based material development, anaphora, passivization, and tense/aspect within Nguni languages of South Africa. Her teaching encompasses various levels of Zulu language courses, showcasing her expertise in language instruction and curriculum development. As a member and Vice President of the African Language Teachers Association, she actively engages in the community promoting African linguistics. Her scholarly contributions include publications in leading journals and a reference grammar for Zulu, underlining her commitment to advancing knowledge in the field of applied linguistics and language education.
