Dr. Billy Chan

Biography

Billy C.C. Chan is a lecturer at the University of New South Wales in the Business School. With 15 years of experience teaching English as a foreign language across Asia and Australia, he has conducted doctoral studies that employ a social constructivist framework in the learning sciences, particularly focusing on student learning through argumentation and the use of infographics. In 2022, he earned his PhD in Education from the University of Sydney, Australia. His research interests delve into integrating learning sciences with curriculum and pedagogy, exploring multiliteracies in higher education, and advancing TESOL, EAP, and ESP principles. Billy is particularly focused on critical thinking, argumentation, and promoting equity and inclusive education for students from lower socio-economic status. His innovative approaches advocate for the development of digital storytelling and infographics in educational settings, ensuring a well-rounded and comprehensive learning experience for diverse learners.
