Dr. Carly Roberts

Biography

Carly Roberts is an Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education at the College of Education, University of Wisconsin. Her doctoral research involves collaborating with schools, teachers, and families to enhance educational experiences for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Recently, her scholarship has focused on supporting teachers by promoting expansive and critical perspectives of inclusive education, reflecting on their own identities and agency to foster sustainable classroom communities that support all learners. Dr. Roberts predominantly employs qualitative inquiry in her research, partnering with scholars to leverage mixed methods approaches and apply collaborative, interdisciplinary perspectives that advance inclusive education in educator preparation programs. She teaches and advises graduate students in both Special Education and Elementary Education programs, as well as in doctoral programs related to Special Education Teacher Education.
