Biography

Professor of Teacher Education at the UCL Institute of Education and Director of the Centre for Teachers and Teaching Research, Caroline Daly focuses on teacher education professional learning. She oversees the Teaching Commission 2024, which investigates teacher attrition and retention solutions. Beginning her career teaching in secondary schools, she transitioned to the IOE to teach on the English PGCE programme and led the blended Master of Teaching programme. Daly has contributed to national teacher education projects and is a Fellow of the International Professional Development Association. Currently, she leads the Leverhulme Trust-funded research project 'Young People, Possible Teachers', which examines how young people perceive teaching as a career. Her research includes the role of digital technologies in professional learning and factors affecting teacher development, and she is supervising doctoral students in these areas. She is open to new doctoral applications.
