Dr. Celeste Pilegard

Biography

Dr. Pilegard received her Ph.D. in Psychological Brain Sciences from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her research lies at the intersection of cognitive psychology and educational psychology, focusing on how people learn and the consequences of teaching methods. A major focal point of her work is on facilitating transfer, which involves helping students apply what they have learned to new situations. She investigates various facets of learning, including educational games, spatial skills, metacognition, gesture, and multimedia learning, aiming to enhance the educational experience. Dr. Pilegard has published several studies exploring cognitive skill training through games, with particular emphasis on Tetris as a platform.
