Biography

Christine Ellison is an Irish artist educator based in Glasgow, specializing in performance-based art that encompasses movement, video, sound, costume, collage, animation, and text. She graduated with a B.Des in Interactive Media from IADT, Dublin, and completed her Masters in Textiles at Goldsmiths College, London in 2006. Christine has exhibited and performed extensively in the UK, Ireland, and internationally, with significant projects including 'Pollyfibre: girlband digital dimension' from 2005 to 2015. Her notable group shows include the Dublin Electronic Arts Festival, Dublin Fringe, Kaunas Art Biennial, and venues like Whitechapel Gallery and White Box in New York. As an educator, Christine focuses on research-led teaching and active learning, particularly in Participatory Art and Listening practices. Since September 2023, she has held the appointment of Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at Edinburgh College of Art, where she is the Programme Director for MA Contemporary Art Practice. Her research interests include sound art, graphical scores, and interdisciplinary practices.
