Biography

Christine Sagnier is a University Lecturer and the Director of the French Language Program at Princeton University. With a Doctorate in Language Sciences from the University of Besançon, Sagnier specializes in Applied Linguistics and Language Acquisition. She manages the undergraduate curriculum for French Language and Culture and is responsible for training and mentoring language assistants. Her research interests encompass sociocultural and sociocognitive theories, language and society, multimodal discourse analysis, multiliteracies, and social semiotics. Sagnier has published numerous articles in European research journals and is the author of multiple books, including "Métacognition et Interactions en didactique des langues: perspectives sociocognitives" (2013) and "Des images et des mots au XXIème siècle: nouvelles perspectives sur la multimodalité, la communication visuelle et les multilittératies" (2018). She teaches courses such as FRE 215: "France Culture, Politics Society" and FRE 319: "Language, Power, Identity," and has developed an immersion summer program in Aix-en-Provence.
