Ciaran Forde leads research on how the sensory properties of foods influence calorie selection, eating behavior, energy intake, and metabolism in both adults and children. In 2015, he established and led the ‘Sensory Ingestive Behaviour’ Clinical Nutrition Research Center in Singapore. In mid-2021, he joined Wageningen University Research as a Professor and Chair in Sensory Science and Eating Behavior within the Division of Nutrition and Health. He has published over 100 scientific articles and book chapters and presented his research at 180 national and international scientific meetings. Currently, he is the Executive Editor of the journal Appetite, serves as Section Editor for ‘Nutrition Behavior and Food Intake Regulation’ in the European Journal of Nutrition, and is a member of the Editorial Board for the Nutrition Bulletin and the Journal Future Food and Journal Texture Studies. Previously, he spent 11 years in food research roles in the UK (GSK), Australia (CSIRO), and Switzerland (Nestlé Research). He received his BSc in Food Chemistry and PhD in Sensory Science from the Department of Nutrition at University College Cork in Ireland.
