Biography

Claudia Domenici completed her undergraduate studies in Modern Languages at the University of Pisa and postgraduate studies (MA Language Studies, specializing in translation theory) at the University of Lancaster. She has taught Italian language and culture and coordinated language programs at several British universities, including Cardiff, Lancaster, and Bristol before her appointment at the University of Cambridge. Dott. Domenici oversees the language program for the Italian Tripos, teaches and examines at various levels of the Tripos, and contributes to the Faculty's postgraduate language teaching training. She has actively participated in the Faculty outreach access program for several years. Her research interests include language teaching methodology with special attention to ab-initio levels, the creation of language teaching materials, and the interaction between language and culture in language teaching. Dott. Domenici's recent research projects involve producing Italian language culture teaching materials in various formats, including 'Italian Essentials', 'Basic Italian Grammar', and the design of online resources such as 'Intervista con Andrea Camilleri' and 'Intervista con Dacia Maraini'. She is currently working on producing pre-arrival cultural language online materials.
