Dr. Claudia Eppert

Biography

Claudia Eppert is a Professor at the University of Alberta in the Faculty of Education, specializing in Secondary Education. She received her Doctorate from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, where she also completed her MA in English Literature and her M.Ed. Her research encompasses a broad spectrum of areas including curriculum studies, English Language Arts, and critical pedagogy, with a particular focus on ethical witnessing, trauma studies, and contemplative education. Claudila has co-edited multiple books, including recognizing efforts in cross-cultural studies and pedagogy related to historical trauma. Active in the academic community, she has served as a co-editor for notable journals and on various advisory boards related to curriculum studies in Canada. Additionally, she has taught undergraduate and graduate courses that address curriculum theory and its applications to educational practices. As a visiting professor, she has engaged with institutions such as York University and McGill University, enriching educational dialogue with her insights on philosophy in education and transformative learning.
