Professor Dr. Connie Cirkony

Biography

Connie Cirkony is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at Monash University and also holds an adjunct senior researcher role at the University of Tasmania. She is an experienced educator specializing in science and STEM curriculum pedagogy, with a strong background in environmental sustainability education. Connie's professional journey began in biology, which has deeply influenced her teaching practices across various educational levels, including K-12 schools and international teaching environments in Canada, Japan, and Australia. She has designed curricula and professional learning programs, contributing to significant educational projects like the Q Project at Monash University, aimed at enhancing the use of research evidence in schools. Additionally, she has held advisory roles in national and international educational committees focusing on sustainability and education. She is currently involved as a board director at the Australasian Science Education Research Association and is dedicated to addressing equitable educational outcomes through her research interests, which include the intersections of science, sustainability education, and Indigenous knowledge systems.
