Dr. Cynthia Ching

Biography

Cynthia Carter Ching is a Professor at the University of California, Davis, in the School of Education, where she has had an influential career focusing on the intersection of technology, learning, and identity in educational contexts. She served as the Interim Dean during the 2023-2024 academic year and previously held several leadership positions, including Associate Dean for Academic Programs. Her research interests span Child Development, Collaborative Learning, Technology Identity, and the use of wearable technologies in educational settings. Ching has been awarded multiple grants from the National Science Foundation for her innovative work in educational technologies and youth engagement. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to numerous book chapters focused on educational technology, digital learning, and methodologies in research. Ching's educational background includes a PhD in Education from the University of California, Los Angeles, an MA in Education, and a BA in Psychology from the University of California, Irvine. Throughout her career, she has also been deeply engaged in service to professional organizations, contributing her expertise to the American Educational Research Association and the International Society for the Learning Sciences.
