Dr. Cynthia Morawski

Biography

Cynthia Morawski is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Ottawa, specializing in education with a focus on teaching and curriculum. She received her Doctorate from Columbia University Teachers College, where she concentrated on reading and language arts. Additionally, she holds Master's degrees in special education and curriculum development, along with an undergraduate degree that focused on psychology and art education. Morawski teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in language literacy, bibliotherapy, learning differences, and children's literature. She has taught at various levels, including elementary and secondary education, in both Canada and the United States. Her expertise extends to special needs education, holding a specialist credential in this area. Her research interests are diverse and include adolescent literacies, bibliotherapy, poetics, and memory work. Morawski has published widely in journals such as the Journal of Curriculum Theorizing and the International Journal of Education Arts, and she has presented her work at numerous national and international conferences. In addition to her teaching, she is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for students to succeed academically and develop their careers.
