Biography

Dan Cornwell-Groves is a Senior Lecturer in Chemistry Education at King's College London, where he leads the UG Year 2 and Chemistry Lab 3 modules. Dan completed his Master’s degree in Chemistry at the University of York in 2012 and continued his academic journey by conducting PhD research under Professor David K. Smith. Throughout his PhD, Dan gained extensive experience in teaching laboratories, which involved designing practical courses. He completed his York Learning Teaching Award program, which further honed his skills in developing, evaluating, and reflecting on teaching methods. Joining the Department of Chemistry at King’s College London in 2016 as a Teaching Fellow, he progressed to Lecturer in Chemistry Education in 2019 and then to Senior Lecturer in 2023. Dan co-organizes the NMES Education Elevenses, a series of weekly educational meetings run by the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical, and Engineering Sciences. His research focuses on developing creative and innovative teaching methods to engage students, exploring their learning approaches to enhance their educational experiences. He is also involved in the design and development of new practical experiments for the undergraduate laboratory modules, applying his interests in pedagogic research.
