Daniela Pozzi Pavan is an Associate Professor of Instruction in the Department of French and Italian at Northwestern University. She graduated from the University of Milan, Italy with a degree in Law and holds Master’s Degrees in International Business Law and French Civil Law. In 2019, she completed her Master’s Degree in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, with a final dissertation titled “Beauty and Creativity in Italian Language and Culture Course.” Daniela coordinates and teaches the Elementary Italian sequence and the Intensive Italian course. Over the years, she has coordinated and taught the Intermediate Italian sequence and has designed an upper-division language culture course in Business Italian and an introductory course in the Italian Business World. her research interests focus on Foreign Language Pedagogy and Language Acquisition, with a particular emphasis on content-based instruction and curriculum development aimed at enhancing students' involvement and motivation in lifelong learning. Daniela is a member of the Undergraduate Language Grant Review Committee (ULG) and the Council for Language Instruction (CLI), where she also serves as an advisory board representative for the French and Italian Department. She co-chairs the Meeting Orientation Committee (MOC), overseeing the annual organization of workshops for language faculty at Northwestern. Daniela participated in the establishment of the Bocconi-Northwestern Exchange Program and has taught a broad range of courses at various levels of language instruction at U.S. and Italian universities, including Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Università degli Studi di Bergamo in Italy.
