Biography

Danielle Geary is a Senior Lecturer in Spanish at the School of Modern Languages, Georgia Tech, where she has been a faculty member since 2010. Her extensive international travel experience includes living in Spain and directing study abroad programs in Spain and Mexico, along with conducting ethnographic field research in Costa Rica. Geary has earned multiple CETL certificates of excellence in teaching and has received several awards recognizing her contributions, including the Ivan Allen College Distinguished Academic Faculty Teaching Award in 2023 and the Student Recognition Excellence Teaching CIOS Award in 2024. She is known for being a consistently highly-rated instructor. In 2013, she created an online Spanish program at Georgia Tech and designed courses such as Spanish Professions, which prepares students for careers abroad and bilingual positions in the United States. Her scholarly work addresses instructional technologies, foreign language acquisition, and study abroad. She has been invited to review new digital learning materials and textbooks and has presented at universities and conferences on utilizing technology in foreign language teaching. Geary holds a Master’s degree in Spanish from the University of Salamanca and a Doctor of Education with a focus on study abroad and foreign language acquisition from Nova Southeastern University. She expresses great enthusiasm for teaching her exceptional students at Georgia Tech.
