Biography

David Chilton is a doctoral candidate at Macquarie University’s School of Education. He has experience as a history teacher and mentors pre-service teachers. His research interests focus on teaching and learning historical thinking skills, exploring new opportunities and challenges that arise for history teachers with the advent of new technologies. David is currently supported by the Australian Government's Research Training Program Scholarship. His projects include "Teaching and Learning History in the Information Age," which aims to build consensus on what teaching historical thinking looks like in classrooms today. Additionally, David's research addresses the impact of on-demand internet access on the teaching and learning of historical thinking skills, particularly in relation to historical information and information processing technologies, including Generative AI.
