Dr. David Chorney

Biography

David Chorney is a Full Professor in the Faculty of Education, specializing in Secondary Education at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. With a rich academic career, he has focused on Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE), curriculum theorizing in physical education, and technology integration in health education. He began his academic journey at the University of Lethbridge as an Assistant Professor in 2003 and joined the University of Alberta in 2007. Over his career, Dr. Chorney has garnered numerous awards, including the Canadian Young Professional Award in 2002 and the Rutherford Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching in 2014. His extensive research has resulted in the publication of 25 refereed articles, contributing significantly to the field of PETE. Dr. Chorney has presented his work at various international and national conferences and is involved in graduate supervision at the Master’s and Doctoral levels. His innovative courses, particularly in conceptualizing physical education, continue to attract students both from Canada and abroad. Dr. Chorney is dedicated to enhancing the quality of physical education through research and practice, aiming to develop effective educators in this essential field.
