Biography

Diana Camps is a Lecturer in the School of Social & Environmental Sustainability at the University of Glasgow. Her research focuses on understanding the role of language and discourse in producing injustice and inequality, highlighting the mechanisms, policies, and practices that continue to reproduce marginalization. She is particularly interested in the social challenges facing marginalized groups, including issues related to migration, access to education, and the cultural rights of minoritized communities in Scotland. Diana completed her PhD in Sociolinguistics in 2019 at the University of Oslo, where her research investigated policy documents related to minority language protection and the dimensions of power inherent in language policy. Before her academic career, she taught English to diverse learner groups and worked with a large NGO on refugee resettlement in Chicago. Her ongoing research includes collaborations with colleagues at Glasgow Caledonian University and Queen Margaret University to explore education access for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in Scotland, as well as examining language policy frameworks affecting refugees and asylum seekers.
