Biography

Fuhui Tong is a Professor and the Associate Provost/Dean of the Graduate Professional School at Texas A&M University. He has been a member of the faculty since 2007 in the Department of Educational Psychology. He has held various leadership roles, including Interim Associate Provost/Dean from 2022 to 2024. Dr. Tong has significantly contributed to the academic excellence of his department, with efforts that include the recruitment of talented faculty and staff and securing $22 million in funding for research and graduate education. Under his guidance, the department has seen notable increases in the enrollment of underrepresented minorities in graduate and professional programs. He co-directed an $80 million research center aimed at enhancing the research experiences of graduate students. Dr. Tong earned his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University in 2006, following a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and a Bachelor’s degree in English from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. His research interests focus on bilingual education, educational psychology, and teaching methodologies for English language learners.
