Biography

Joining LCAL, Gang Liu developed and taught Chinese language courses at various levels, as well as content courses on a wide range of topics including business language, culture in China, traditional Chinese poetry, literature, and thought, Chinese ghost stories, modern Chinese society, and Chinese documentary films. Dr. Liu's research interests include classical Chinese poetry, literati miscellanies, and Chinese Foreign Language (CFL) pedagogy with an emphasis on technology-enhanced learning. He has co-edited and co-authored four books published by Peking University Press. These works focus on teaching Chinese culture overseas and strategies for CFL teachers. Additionally, he is the author of a bestselling children's book series on ancient Chinese mythology. Liu has received several awards, including the Elliott Dunlap Smith Award for Distinguished Teaching and Educational Service in 2024, and has contributed to various committees and projects in his field.
