Biography

As a primary school teacher by training, Geneviève Carpentier taught for several years in disadvantaged Quebec schools. This experience enabled her to better understand the challenges related to teaching practices and to become familiar with the experiences of students. She completed her Master’s degree in French didactics funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Her doctoral thesis in psycho-pedagogy focused on the types of support needs of teachers and their perceptions of the help received. Her research over the past three years has been centered around three axes: 1. Teaching Actions Supporting Sustainable Learning, focusing on teaching practices that foster sustainable learning; 2. The Sustainable Learner and Their Environment, highlighting students' experiences and perceptions; 3. Professional Development and Practice Change, aimed at creating innovative training and support mechanisms aligned with the needs of school staff. Geneviève emphasizes collaborative research approaches where parity between field practitioners and university researchers is vital, ensuring practical involvement from conceptualization to result dissemination. Additionally, she serves as the editor of the professional journal 'Vivre le primaire', promoting research dissemination and collaboration across various universities.
