Biography

Giuliana Cucinelli is an Associate Professor in the Educational Technology Program at Concordia University. Her research-creation program focuses on the social, cultural, and educational impacts of technology. She is currently the principal investigator of a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Insight Development Grant which examines digital device practices and policies in K-12 schools across Quebec and Ontario. Cucinelli is also leading a Concordia-funded research-creation project that explores Virtual Reality Empathy Education and the understanding of cultural, gender, and ethnic differences in the workplace. Before joining Concordia, she was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Comparative Media Studies Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with research affiliations at institutions such as the Open Documentary Lab and the Youth Media Project at Harvard University. Cucinelli holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from McGill University and has taught various courses related to educational gaming, digital media education, and learning theories. Her professional affiliations include membership in organizations such as the American Educational Research Association and the Canadian Society for the Study of Education.
