Haimanti Banerjee joined the Penn community in 1995, enrolling in the Graduate School of Education for her degree in language pedagogy and obtaining a PA certification for elementary education. Prior to coming to Penn, she received an MPhil in English literature from Delhi University. Since 1995, Haimanti has been teaching Bengali and has also taught Hindi and English. In her role as Associate Director of Language Culture Programs at the Joseph H. Her primary areas of interest include language pedagogy, assessment, and materials development.
