Dr. Haira Gandolfi

Biography

Haira Gandolfi is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge, where she joined in 2020. She holds a PhD in Education from the Institute of Education, University College London, obtained in 2019. With a rich academic background that includes a Master’s degree in Science Education and a Chemistry Teaching Qualification from the State University of Campinas, Brazil, Haira’s academic career spans various facets of science education and pedagogy. Her areas of research predominantly focus on Decolonial Curriculum and Pedagogy, qualitative school-based research methodologies, and the development of teacher professionalism. Over the past nine years, she has conducted extensive research on science education in both England and Brazil, emphasizing radical critical teaching and socio-scientific issues. Haira has been actively involved in educational projects funded by organizations such as the Education Endowment Foundation and participates in international research networks that bridge education across Europe and Latin America. She teaches multiple programs related to curriculum and pedagogy and aims to foster a deeper understanding of the socio-political dimensions of science education.
